On Monday’s Radio Show…
August 18, 2008• Pastor Rick Warren gives Alan the inside scoop on his Saddleback Civil Forum with Barack Obama and John McCain.
• Political pollster Frank Luntz, author of Words That Work, sits down with Alan to dissect the latest presidential campaign rhetoric.
• Author and satirist Daniel Kurtzman says his book can teach anyone How to Win a Fight with a Liberal. Alan puts him to the test.
Easy to win a fight against a liberal.
Either use facts or body blows. Both work equally well knocking liberals to the ground.
Easier to win a fight with a conservative.
Just hit ‘em in the head with a hameer…
TY&GN
or a hammer…
Hameer sounds muslim, dammit…
Not so hard to win a fight with a rightist either. Just hand them a hammer and let them hit themselves in the head.

I Think churches that want to be openly envolved in politics should pay their fair tax . . .
McCain lied?
Rep. Lewis: McCain “Does Not Consult Me”
http://www.motherjones.com/mojoblog/archives/2008/08/9293_john_mccain_john_lewis_wise_man.html
Churches are a business and should pay taxes…
Best way to handle conservatives is to put them in a “cone of silence”. Of course they will lie about being in there… and eaves drop on what the liberals are talking about. After all without the wisdom of liberals they can’t figure out how to tie their own shoes.
they both can take their religious crap and go home ..
as for that Frank Putz guy .. he can go with them ..
Alan:
You’re agruements are weak . .
Alan, Please ask Rick Warren if he was aware of whether or not McCain was actually in the “Cone of Silence.”
Also, if he did believe he was, did he feel that McCain was in any way dishonest about agreeing to be in the cone but then not doing so?
Alan, Please let Rick know that he did a much better job than Charlie Giibson & George Stephanopolis!
And, thanks for asking my question!
Luntz is correct about one thing for sure. Obama has not “made his case”. He has not come out with the same power that he did in the primaries.
FuRyUs, RC, RJ & Anonymous, Here comes your topic…
Surely Kurtzman will do better than Ann Coulter.
Not too hard to do.
I don’t know about that Mary, she is a tremendous beaaaatch, but very few men can parallel her shrewdness and quick wit.
Kurtzman was a good guest, but I think the admitted humorus nature of his book, plus the existence of a previous alternative book of his against conservatives, will have turned a lot of people off. Many were expecting a hard-hitting book, and Kurtzman’s book apparently isn’t.
Your rightwing callers only parrot el Rushbo and Sean. I wish they’d come up with new, original routines.
If the rich currently pay most of the taxes, it’s only because most of the property in America is already in their hands. The reduced tax burden the wealthy have enjoyed the last few years is only further freeing up the cash to boost their control over America’s assets more than it already was. Taken far enough, this trend will put us all back into the company towns that might have been common decades ago.
You may want to live in a company town, shopping at the company store, but I don’t.
Anyone who thinks “the less tax the rich pay, the more jobs they’ll create” is mistaken. The less tax the wealthy pay, the more yachts and villas they’ll purchase and the more effort they’ll put into hiding even more of their income from the US IRS.
Alan, pleasa check last Friday’s Free For All thread and address the charge the commenters from ONTD are making against you. Hopefully, you can make the pests go away.
Small business pays it’s employees $10/hr or less with no benefits.
Sad, but true. No where is that more true than the “taxi” business.
When “small business” begins to have trouble convincing people to work for those rates, they then hire illegal aliens to “do the work that Americans won’t do”.
They are saying you stole a banner which they own. Again, please address them.
Alan, it’s both amusing and frustrating to hear these people attempt to use religion and the bible to justify their opposition to reproductive choice.
In reality, the bible never mentions abortion. Ever. Neither new nor old testament.
In Genesis, it says God “breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” So, per the Bible, life begins at first breath.
Of the more than 600 Mosaic laws, none mention abortion.
Also, in Exodus, it states that if a man causes a woman to have a miscarriage, he shall be fined or have some other modest punishment from a judge. Only if he causes the woman’s death is he guilty of murder.
So, while these people may take a position against legal, safe abortion, any argument based on the Bible is baseless.
Thanks.
Obama is going to win the election & the Republicans might as well go home.
Again, Alan, I plea for you to address the issue.
And is that Jesus momma Mary saying that?
Life doesn’t begin at conception or at what we call birth. It always was & always will be.
Jesus’ momma is a close friend…
Jesus’
WFG, Glad you’re here. Love listening to you!
I could not find the FFAF thread. Can u help?
I’m staying out of when life begins.
oh goody…abortion chat on the radio
Scroll down the main page and look for the large flashing FFAF.
Hi Pooh!
Love listening to me?
Oh, no! Did you fall off the wagon and into the wine barrel?
Thanks WFG brb
hey mary
Alan, try to find the two pieces of legislation you talked about on H&C. It’d make for a good blog post, and allow us to compare them.
Alan, McCain didn’t answer the question about taxes with an actual figure. The questions were not exactly the same either for both candidates. We’re screwed, all you have to say is drill, drill, drill. Too many people are mindless.
Oh, can anyone tell me if Pat Caddell said anything on H&C last night? It sounded to me like he waisted a lot of time.
Slowwwww
ROFL. What a surprise. The Fox News’ Channel’s only so-called “liberal” spends all of his time on Fox’s radio show interviewing REPUBLICANS.
“What a surprise.”
How long you been listening? An hour? A couple of days? A few weeks? I’ve been listening for more than a decade. Thank you and good night.
The words that worked from this “Saddleback Civil War” were “Brokeback Mountain”, “Cone of Silence”, and “Oprah vs. Wolf.” You can’t have a conversation about controversial topics without expecting someone to get angry and show their passion of Christ. Does America want another President to lead this Bush Crusade or end it? Crusade, now that’s a word. It’s like Obama and McCain went to Brokeback to be civil to each other and they both lost. You can’t trust a Conservative to keep a secret because they will use it against you for political gain the last chance they get. McCain should have been under control in a sound proof booth. The forum lacked integrity and provided McCain a distinct advantage. McCain and General Petraeus may have visited Brokeback Mountain together due to all the love McCain is gushing for him? Generals don’t set foreign policy. America was never in doubt of losing a war with a country that didn’t seem to have “WMD.” Our generals kissed up to keep their jobs and that threatened our troops.
Damn, I’m good! That’s some strong Liberal rebuttal that you’d never get from Alan or on Fox! It gives new meaning to “Don’t ask, Don’t tell!” When are we going home? Don’t ask. How did we get into this mess? Don’t tell. Seek the truth in hindsight. Clarity will set you free. Liberal is not a bad word. Liberty is freedom if we demand it and protect it.
Thank Reagan for making liberal a dirty word.
“You can’t trust a Conservative to keep a secret because they will use it against you for political gain the last chance they get.” Does’t that line work better if you replace last with first?
