On Wednesday’s Radio Show…

July 30, 2008

Ellis Henican of Newsday guest-hosts for Alan.

• Pollster Scott Rasmussen examines the latest polling data in the race for the White House.
• Barack Obama’s critics say he’s being “presumptuous,” but is the accusation fair? Ellis weighs the evidence.
• New research suggests that “shacking up” before marriage may reduce the risk of divorce. Is “living in sin” the secret of having a healthy family?

  1. Nothing like living in sin!

  4. Why do we have ellis 4 a whole week?

  5. Where the hell is Jay Diamond ?

  6. Why all the flak for Ellis? I enjoy listening to Ellis. He’s not Alan, but I like listening to him.

  7. Lol michael. Ur the only ellis fan. Hes not bad hes just got a dif style.

  8. Is Obama presumptous? If you don’t think you can win or you think you don’t deserve to win, then you won’t. Obama has to tell America why things should change and what the future under him would look like. Paint the picture of tomorrow like Ronald Reagan. John McCain’s tomorrow looks like a Mushroom cloud with bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran or Iraq in 100 years or less. McCain looks like Dr. Strangelove riding the bomb down to Baghdad. McCain’s future is uncertain with all the brain cancer going around and all the moles removed from his face. How do you attack an old man who loves war? They just fade away?

  9. Obama is a lapdog for all the joooos

  10. Is it possible to run for the president of the United States of America, and NOT be presumptous?

  11. The problem with Ellis is mostly that he isn’t exciting to listen to. His element is more the realm of comedy, such as in Sealab 2021. He’s kind of wishy washy.

  12. tru dat, WFG. Ellis seems to like to talk more and ask rhetorical questions rather than take calls but hey, thats his style. Just makes us more appreciative of Alan when he gets back. Jay Diamond’s cool. Yahoo put out an article bout immigration: http://news.yahoo.com/s/csm/20080731/ts_csm/adepart
Purdy much says that Immigration services work, but the immigration flow is starting to turn bc of more employers cracking down on employment practices so THEYRE GOING HOME ON THEIR OWN. Alan was right it seems. yay. As for the living in sin thing, I know its a tired ass analogy but do u buy the car without a test drive? Its true dude you don’t just sign up and then on honeymoon night Oh you don’t put out? Thats messed up. All these old ideas still circulating around about ‘living in sin’ and all that. I think Jesus will love two people who love each other and arent blowing each other up for a change. Live The Way You Want!!

  13. I think that JWO’s description of Ellis was most accurate. He does a lot of talking. But most of his questions are not rhetorical, he actually invites people to call in about it. The only problem with that bc of his conversational style, he doesn’t get very many calls in. He’s not a bad host, he’s just not Alan.

  14. Alan- maybe next time you’re on vacation for more than a day you can split the week up into different hosts? like ellis on monday, jay on tuesday and wednesday and thursday, and that lady on friday?

  15. I have mixed views on Jay. I like that he can be more agrressive than Alan, which Alan sometimes needs to be, and, frankly, Jay comes off as better informed at times, but Jay doesn’t seem to have Alan’s level of diversity in subjects. From what I’ve heard, Jay often returns to healthcare and how conservatives are actually seeking socialism. All may be legitimate points, but the healthcare subject isn’t the only one, albeit he does address other issues and makes Reagan references and jokes.
